I thought this would simply tell you the BPM on any MP3 file. I don’t understand why this needs to link with Itunes, wishing I never paid $8.99 for this!

I’m not the type of people that writes bad feedback but this app doesn’t do a good job. not even aceptable. bpm is way off mor than a “factor 2” as they say. Sorry guys is not worthy the 11$ CAD I paid for it. I will hope for an update.

The classifications couldn’t have been less accurate. Very slow songs were given the highest bpms while fast songs had lower bpms. It’s managed to get it exactly wrong fairly consistently.

Works as advertised for music that is in a conventional Western 2/2 or 4/4 meter, but definitely has consistent and significant problems figuring out the tempo of some 6/8, 3/4, or more complex rhythms, anywhere from 30-50% off the actual BPM, not merely a double-time error. It does indeed run remarkably fast on bulk quantities of tracks, saving its results into your iTunes library instantly.

Blasted through 100 of my mp4 files in less than 5 seconds.

Very basic program, but fills a gap well for me as a DJ where I manage my catalogue in iTunes but use Traktor for DJing. Waiting on 1.0.2 for a fix on “coerce results”, but otherwise works well. Waiting to process more files in the blues genre to find out how accurate it can be, but pop, R&B, alternative seem to be doing fine.

It does what I want: easily and mostly-accurately assigns BPMs to music already loaded in iTunes, without having to exit iTunes or move the files around. However, while the "coerce results" feature (which helps to limit instances of guessing double or half the actual tempo) is a little *too* limiting. I ended up turning it off because a random sampling of music in my library tends to span more than a factor of two in tempos. If I could set the lower and upper limits separately, limiting would be far more useful (i.e., tell it that the music is likely between 55 and 140, which would cover most ballroom dance music, as an example). Despite this, it works better than anything else Ive tried, free or paid, and even produces reasonable results for music that doesnt have a steady tempo through the whole song. The only thing Ive used that is better required me to tap out the beat, so could only do one song at a time (and stopped working with Lion or Mountain Lion).

I was looking for a simple, easy to use program that would add the BPM to my iTunes collection. I am not a DJ nor do I need sophisticated mixing software…I just wanted my songs to show BPM to help me create playlists for running, walking, etc. Downloaded the program and dropped my entire iTunes music collection of nearly 6000 songs into it all at once (from the Finder window). In around 12 minutes the entire 6000 song collection had been analyzed and values assigned. I haven’t gone through the entire collection to check for errors, just a random sampling. But it has already done what I needed it to do. Now that songs show BPM values, I can search by BPM value and am rediscovering songs in my collection I haven’t listened to for years. iTunes doesn’t retain any of the changes made by BeatGauge.

This app works fine and does what it says. The results are as accurate or better than some others I tried. With iTunes 12.3.1, the results were displayed immediately without any need to refresh the window. Good tech support. Note that if you have a large music collection stored in an unusual location, like a NAS or external drive, you may have to drag the music files to the app in the Finder, instead of in iTunes.

I use music cadence mainly on a bike trainer and sometimes running. Running/training apps determine their own bpm but 1) the bpm is sometimes not accurate, 2) the bpm usually can’t go lower than 70 bpm, and 3) the bpm is not inserted into the iTunes song information. Some apps do use the “song info” bpm if available, so manually determining bpm is a lengthly option I’ve had to use. No more. BeatGuage is accurate, can determine lower cadences, and is really really fast. Support is good. (I had some questions when I hit “Analyze New” and BeatGuage started to go through my very large library but the answers were also in the menu help bar.)

Does what it says. I used it for about 2000 songs and it only took a few minutes! Great app for if you want to make a specific playlist for running :)

I downloaded BeaTunes free trial just to do the BPM analysis. I started a queue for my 5600 songs, and it told me 1.8 DAYS. Well alright then. I looked on BeaTunes website and found they recommended BeatGauge if all you want is quick BPM analysis. I took a look at the store, and saw it was $8 for what is essentially a one time use application. However, it had good reviews, and I wanted to build a better cycling playlist, so I figured why not. WOW, this software is FAST. It blew through my 5600 songs in maybe 5 minutes? Even better, it assigns the BPM right back to iTunes so sorting by BPM and making a playlist is extremely easy. This will change my rides significantly and make sure I’m always pedaling the right cadence. I doubt I’ll ever use it again since all my songs are now analyzed, but still was worth the $8 bucks for all the playlists I’ll make and use I’ll get out of them.

I was looking to add BPM information to my tracks so I could create smart playlists based on that information. This application gave me that information. 95% of the time it is accurate. It saves the information to the files and then iTunes Match is subsequently updated. You must have the audio files locally for the analysis but afterwards, you don’t need them. This was exactly what I was looking for and at a price I was happy to pay.

I’m a cover band musician, i put medleys of songs together and im constantly using a tap tempo app to get the BPM of songs so see which ones are close to each other in speed so i can glue them, i’ve used tongs of apps and this one is the first one that just works this fast so I was able to do what would have taken me a couple of hours to do manually in about 2 minutes It’s worth every cent i just wish i had found it sooner!
